Six weeks.
That’s how long I stepped away. No blogs. No posts. Just life — creation, music, church, family, and God. And now I’m sitting here staring at a blank screen, and if I’m being real with you, it feels strange.
Like picking up a guitar you love after months of not playing. Your fingers remember the chords but your hands feel slow. That’s where I am today.
And I figured, instead of pretending I just picked up right where I left off — I’d tell you the truth about it.
Where this Business Mentor Was
It was Resurrection season. My wife was directing a play at our church and I was handling the technical side — sound, lighting, the behind-the-scenes work that nobody sees but everyone feels when it goes right. We leaned into our strengths. She led. I supported. And God showed up in every rehearsal, every detail, every nervous moment backstage. It was one of those experiences that reminds you why you do what you do — not for applause, but because something bigger is moving through you.
I was also writing. Creating music. Editing. Using AI tools to build things I couldn’t have built alone two years ago. It was a full season — rich, meaningful, and completely disconnected from this blog.
The Awkward Lesson of this Comeback
Here’s what I want to talk about: returning is hard. The motivation doesn’t just pop back on like a light switch. The connection you had with your audience, with your work, with your reason for doing it — it has to be rebuilt. And that takes something most people aren’t willing to do.
It takes showing up before you feel ready.
I’ve been listening to podcasts lately, getting back into rhythm with my relationship with God. Because I’ve noticed something: when I’m building, when I’m focused on legacy, on the home business, on the goals — sometimes I drift from the One who opens and closes the doors. I start operating in my own strength. And I notice it. Things feel heavier. Less clear. Like I’m rowing against the current instead of being carried.
So I’ve been getting back to that first. Because without it, none of the rest of it matters much to me anyway.
What’s Actually Happening With Blogging in 2026
While I was away, I kept my ears open. I was researching, listening to conversations about blogging — what’s working, what’s dying, where things are headed. The picture is mixed. Some content creators are telling the truth about how hard it is. Others are finding a new path through.
AI has changed things. You already know that. But here’s what keeps coming back to me: the people who are winning right now are not the ones who replaced themselves with AI. They’re the ones using AI to do more of what only they can do — share their perspective, tell their story, connect with people who need exactly what they have.
We offer AI products on this blog. And I’m not stepping back from that. We are here to stay — through this wave and the next one. Because things are always changing, and that is not a reason to quit. That’s a reason to stay in the water. Work from home is still a thing many people are looking for.
The How To Prevent Quitting Tip
Most people who start a home business are not mentally prepared for the long game. They’re all-in for sixty days, and then life happens — a break, a slow month, a family thing — and they never come back. Not because they couldn’t do it. Because nobody ever told them that disconnection is part of the process, and that coming back is a skill you have to build.
Other programs won’t tell you this. They’re too busy selling you the next tool, the next system, the next upgrade. They’re not interested in teaching you how to think through hard seasons. They’re interested in keeping you dependent.
As a Business Mentor I can tell you. Personal growth comes first. Always. Because you can have the best marketing system in the world and still quit when it gets uncomfortable — if you haven’t done the inner work.
You need to become more to attract more. That’s not a slogan. That’s the whole business plan.
YouTube, Surfing, and the Creator Economy
Something else I picked up while I was away: YouTube is now the number one platform. They’re building AI tools specifically for content creators. And here’s what that tells me — the demand for real human voices, real stories, real people sharing what they know — it’s not going away. It’s growing.
We are the online stores these platforms are looking for. They need our content, our communities, our audiences. The creator economy isn’t shrinking and blogging in 2026 is still an awesome thing. It’s just getting more competitive, which means the people who are consistent, honest, and human are going to be worth even more.
Think of it like surfing. You don’t fight the wave. You read it. You position yourself. And when it comes, you ride it with everything you have. That’s the mindset.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Another big reason why people quit — and I’ve seen it over and over — is that they started alone. Nobody checking in. Nobody to call when things slow down. No community reminding them that the slow stretch is normal and that it ends.
I’ve been there. I took a break. Coming back was harder because of it. But I had a foundation. I had knowledge. I had people. I knew that burnout happens, that disconnection happens, that hard seasons happen — and that none of them mean it’s over.
Not one online business was built in a day. It takes time. It takes faith. It takes the kind of hard work that keeps going even when nobody is watching. That combination — faith and hard work together — is the only formula that actually works.
The community, the mentorship, the system — those aren’t extras. They’re what make the difference between someone who quits and someone who builds something they’re proud of.
The Show Must Go On
Somewhere out there right now, someone is searching for exactly what you have. Your words. Your products. Your story. And if you’re not showing up — they’re going to find someone else instead.
So I’m back. Not because everything feels perfect or because the motivation hit me like lightning. But because I believe this is not the end. Because the work matters. Because someone needs this. And because I made a decision a long time ago to not be the kind of person who quits when things get uncomfortable.
