Personal growth is the main reason you are where you are, all that comes with the right mentorship and you are about to know how to keep your business mindset at all times.
I Miss the Beach (Business mindset)
I know the first day we got there, standing by the ocean with the sun beaming down, I wasn’t ready for how hot it was going to be. I remember laughing with my family all day, feeling the hot sand under our feet and the warm water on our skin. We were all just happy to be there, thanking God for the trip. It felt simple. It felt good.
Then the next day came, and I was hurting. My back had burned from the sun and left me with a dark, uncomfortable tan. I spent that whole second day just trying to relax, not doing too much, because every move reminded me of the pain. I kept putting on lotion, hoping it would help even a little. Not everyone has a perfect vacation. But I still believe it’s always worth it to get away with the family, even when it’s not perfect.
Coming Home To A Different Dog
Our vacation ended, like they always do, and we were back to work and responsibilities. We had left our puppy with friends while we were gone, and it was time to go pick him up. He was so happy to see us. He was barking like he was trying to tell us exactly why we shouldn’t have left him behind.
But when we got him home, we noticed something. He had picked up new habits from being around our friends’ dogs. We think he was watching how the other dogs acted, learning from them the same way kids learn from their parents. It was the first time he had been around other dogs like that since we brought him home. And somehow, it made him act more mature.
It made me think about this whole personal growth and self improvement journey within our business and throughout our lives. I had taken a break from writing and working to spend that time with my family, and it was worth it. That break gave me the energy to come back and keep going. So here I am, back to business, back to writing.
What about you? Have you had your vacation yet? Are you looking forward to one, or are you the type who has a hard time stepping away because work always feels like it’s calling you back?
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. There needs to be a place in your mind where you know business cannot consume you. You do what you can while you’re away from family, and then you come back to it. this protects your mental health and you get the best of both worlds. Family gets their time. Then it’s time for business again.
Why This Life Doesn’t Make You Perfect: Mentorship
I’ve been thinking a lot about this entrepreneurship life lately. There are three things I keep coming back to. First, it helps you grow as a person, even though it doesn’t make you perfect. Second, it keeps you busy when you’re feeling lonely. Third, it gives you a reality check.
Let me explain that first one, because it matters most. While I’m growing every single day, I still react to things that make me uncomfortable. When I got burned at the beach, the next day we decided to go back out, not realizing how crowded and difficult it would be. There were no open chairs by the pool. The sun was beaming down hard. My back was already burning, and then it just hit me. I got upset. I went back to the hotel because it felt like a better place to be than standing in that sun.
My family didn’t come with me. They wanted to keep enjoying their vacation, so they stayed behind, looking for a spot near the water. The next day was better. We went shopping, spent time back at the ocean and the pool, and ended the night with a good sleep at the hotel.
Good things happened. Bad moments happened too. Why? Because even while I’m growing, I still don’t know everything about life. None of us do. Entrepreneurship is the same way, there’s always something ahead we can’t see coming. Should that discourage us? Not at all. It’s part of the process, and we have to learn to embrace it instead of running from it.
The Loneliness After Vacation
When I got back from vacation, I felt lonely. I felt sad. Kind of bored, honestly. I didn’t want to do anything. I wanted the vacation feeling to last forever. I think that’s the feeling everyone is chasing, and we usually call it freedom. The ability to enjoy time with family, one vacation after another, sounds amazing.
But here’s the thing we don’t talk about enough. Are we actually willing to do nothing? I don’t think so. We’re so used to working that not working can mess with us too, unless we find a different kind of work to do. Because there’s the work you do with your body, and there’s the work you do with your mind. Hence the business mindset.
We didn’t choose Entrepreneurship, it chose us, but we don’t let it control us. We are still at the wheel and we decide when this vehicle moves and it’s destination. If we want to take care of ourselves the right way, we have to balance both. Taking care of your mental health matters just as much as taking care of your body. Neither one is more important than the other.
The Reality Check
So what’s the reality check I’m talking about? Business is about taking risks. It’s about investing your time and your money into something. And I’m not going to pretend I have it all figured out, especially when it comes to protecting my family. I can take risks. I can spend time and money sharing this with the world, hoping to find people who understand what it really means.
It’s not about getting rich quick. It never was. It’s about staying balanced as a family while you grow, little by little, in your mind and in who you are as a person. You have nothing to lose when you’re becoming someone others want to follow, one page at a time, one day at a time.
This is your journey. This is your path. This is your opportunity. Along the way you’ll find things that help you grow in ways you didn’t expect. You’ll also run into obstacles, moments that upset you, situations that feel like they’re spinning out of control. But they pass. And you’ll find yourself on the other side of that chapter, looking back at how far you’ve come.
Writing this blog is what helps me cope with everything going on around me. It keeps me honest with myself, and it keeps me accountable to the people reading. That’s really all I want out of this. Nothing more.
Not Frantic. Not Desperate. Just Patient.
The world needs more people who are willing to live and enjoy life the way it was meant to be lived. Not frantic. Not desperate. Just patient and calm. Not chasing riches, but chasing the kind of personal growth that only comes from within. The only way to keep going is through mentorship and commitment.
A lot of people lean on God to keep their life in order. I’m one of them. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without my Lord and Savior Jesus. That’s just the truth for me. I know there’s a better place waiting, a longer vacation than any beach trip could ever give us, for those of us who believe He’s preparing a place so that where He is, we’ll be too.
That’s bigger than anything I can put into words. But it’s true for me, and I hold onto it. I think this blogging journey is helping me stay true to who I am and honest with the people around me. Not sharing every single detail of my life, but sharing enough. That’s what being Part of this community is about. I’m not asking you to lay out your whole life story here, because I’m not doing that either. There are things worth keeping close. But when sharing something can bless someone else, I believe it’s worth doing.
So wherever you’re at today, whether you’re on vacation, coming back from one, or just getting through another regular week, remember to stay connected to what matters most. Pray. Stay grounded. Keep growing. And know that you don’t have to figure any of this out alone.
