GYM WORKOUTS FOR OVER AGE 50

Gym Workouts for Over Age 50 can be a huge help to our fitness. We all love the gym, the chance to work out on equipment that wouldn’t fit in most of our homes even if we could afford it all. The pumping music. The activity. The noise. Even that great smell of sweat.

But over 50, we need to think about different gym activities beginning to replace what we used to do. Weight lifting is still a really good bet, but slower and not as aggressive. Our bones aren’t quite as strong. Be sure to stretch! But, even if you do nothing else, stretch! It keeps us limber and toned and able to move much easier.

Treadmill Health

Through our incredible Community Membership for Sports do some walking on a treadmill, with stretching is a quick and easy workout before or after a long day. But there are other important ways to exercise as we mature. Pilates and Yoga are also incredible for building strength and keeping our muscles and bones strong.

Start slow and don’t force yourself. After all, at a certain age it isn’t like you have to rush. A half hour of workout can eventually lead up to an hour. Then look for a class to join to be more involved with friends and others who you can cheer on and lean on! Be sure to let your instructor know of past injuries and problems so you don’t feel singled out if there is something you can’t quite pull off.

Weightlifting To Your Strongest Self

Start slowly and lightly, with 2 lb weights. Do not try to do more than your body tells you. Work with a trainer, if at all possible. Concentrate on lifting those weights and then move to 5 lb and eventually up the ladder to 10 and more. As you do you should feel your arms tightening and your entire body becoming stronger. Remember that much of this is best done with a pro. That’s why a gym membership is so important.
