Pet Health

When we don’t feel well we know how to inform others around us to get the care we need. And we can rely on home made things like making chicken soup for ourselves. But when our pet friends don’t feel well we panic because we often lack the knowledge of what we can do to help Pet Health.

Why we care so much pet health for our pets, our best friends.

Pet Health

Home Remedies for Dogs

To keep you pet safe practice home remedies and keep some things on hand. We always keep a few cans of sweet potatoes on the back shelf in the pantry just as an emergency if our canine friends come back inside having gotten into something that makes them sick. And you know the importance of being able to do something to help them, quickly. If you have fresh sweet potatoes in the pantry, you can even microwave one quickly and you let it cool. Firstly, it calms their stomachs. Second, it is so beneficial for them in vitamins and nutrients. And it is a treat that they will eat happily even if they are sick.

Fixing the Right Food

If they are not interested in food try various options. A good trick is to mix canned or fresh cooked – but never raw – sweet potato with cooked and cooled rice. Importantly, do not fry the sweet potato or rice. This combination will sustain them. It will either help them get over what may be a stomach ailment. Or. help give you time to get them to your vet. And you know that feeding them sweet potato is also good for their eyes, their coats, and muscle health. When their coats are looking dull, add some to their food.

Skunk Odor Remover

Pet Health

Sometimes our furry friends come home smelling, well, horrible. Our dogs came home one day after playing in the nearby field smelling like skunk. Our dogs love chasing a stick we toss into the lake and “retrieving it” into the worst area of mud. As you know; the stink. And a friend’s cat was exploring under a tree in their front yard and came in contact with a resident skunk.

For those “oh no” moments, be sure to keep another pet supply on hand: 3% hydrogen peroxide. There has been a nation-wide shortage in this must-have product over the past couple of years. Do be sure to stock up at the grocery store or pharmacy. You’ll need a quart per furry friend. You’ll also want that kitchen staple, baking soda. For this, I keep a box right next to the hydrogen peroxide. Because you will want a half cup of it mixed into the hydrogen peroxide. Add a squirt of dishwashing detergent and start sponging your dog or cat or other furry friend. After they are soaked down with it, consider putting the rest of the mixture in a spray bottle to spray the air around you. Your room will immediately smell skunk-free. Give your dog or cat a gentle bath with their regular soap afterwards. They’ll thank you and everyone around will thank you!

Products that Help Our Pets

Not all products that are made for Pets are necessarily where we should be looking for products that help out pets. This is where things come into using best judgement for our special (sometimes only) true friends.
