TAKE A WALK!

We all want to get and stay healthy, no matter our age, and especially as we grow into boomer-senior status! But there is no question about it: fitness is harder as you get older. We all used to run around doing errands, looking after kids, getting to work and back. Exercise was built into daily life. That gets harder as we get older. And those pounds tend to stick more. Because we sit more. And we may downsize into smaller spaces. I did, thinking it would be a breeze to keep clean. (It is) But the downside: all the time spent mopping or vacuuming no longer counts as exercise.

Take a Walk

The remedy we can all use is the simple walk. Because we can walk a mile on a greenway or the sidewalk near home. But you know we can also simply walk up and down the driveway a few times every morning and evening: my neighbor uses that as his regimen and loves it. Personally, I like to walk the perimeter of my yard at least once a day, and if there is snow, I find myself doing the driveway walk. You’ll love the benefit. Firstly, in a few days you will feel so much more energy. Secondly, you’ll find your breathing is easier. Thirdly, while you might not lose weight directly, you’ll want a cup of coffee with weight loss creamer after your walk, or one of the marvelous weight loss products here.

ONCE AROUND THE BLOCK

Take a Walk

We all know that old saying about going once around the block. But did you know that a city block is typically a quarter mile around? Once around is a good bit of walking! Stay healthy and go twice around! Wow. No expensive equipment required. And suddenly you have done a half mile a day!. And if your neighborhood is like mine, there aren’t many other walkers out. But when people see you out, they’ll want to join you. It is a great way to meet new friends. You’ll be a trend setter as well as one of the healthiest people out there!

Take a Walk

It used to be that doctors said you needed a 15 minute walk for health and to ward off health problems such as type II diabetes. Now they say that as little as a two minute walk after dinner will do the job. So toss on that jacket and head out the door. (Don’t worry, the dinner dishes will wait for you!)
